Which certification test should my child actually take?

Q1: My child has passed the Cambridge English FCE and GEPT Intermediate. Why is their TOEIC score not high?

A1: Parents actually don't need to worry too much. First of all, before taking any exam, you need to know the question types and the purpose of the exam.

TOEIC is primarily used to test the English proficiency of non-native speakers in an international "business environment."

Because the exam content leans heavily toward business, the reading passages mostly consist of business cases, emails, business contracts, advertising materials, etc.

For students who are still in high school or even middle school, don't concepts like mergers, acquisitions, and stockbrokers feel a bit too distant from their current life experiences?

However, this doesn't mean it's unsuitable for them to take the exam; rather, they need to become familiar with business expression patterns and memorize business vocabulary.

Even as adults, when we deal with bank documents or sign contracts, we find those texts difficult to understand. Middle and high school students feel the same way when taking the TOEIC.

There are so many tests on the market nowadays. Should they take the GEPT, Cambridge English, IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEIC?

Everyone can start preparing with PET, and later take the FCE exam (the Harry Potter course level).

Nowadays, IELTS and TOEFL are generally accepted interchangeably across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
